The Gates of Fate is a puzzle game. The objective of the game is to help Alex and Lisa, who are trapped in different dimensions, return to the present. To give you an example of how the game plays: in the first scenario, we must get out of a cave; but just when we are about to leave, the exit is blocked with rocks falling from the mountain. We then explore the level and find things that should help us open the exit. These things are displayed at the bottom, as a list of items or inventory.
The first tasks are to find seven dynamite items to blow up all the rocks blocking the exit. Not all explosives are in plain sight, the last one lies inside a locked chest which of course must be opened first. To open the chest, you have to get a tool - which, in turn, is also split in three parts scattered around the level. Once you fix the tool, you can open the chest, get the dynamite and load it into the rocks. But now things get more complicated since you have to find a detonator.
Despite the great potential, this game doesn't offer much in terms of guiding the player, which makes it very difficult to advance anywhere. However, the story is very interesting and the game includes several videos, so there's at least something to keep you invested.
